Product Details

The clutch cover, also known as the "clutch plate," moves against and away from the clutch pads to create the friction needed to engage and disengage your clutch. It is located just behind the gear case cover and is secured by the clutch wheel nut and a locking Phillips screw. For proper function, the clutch cover should have a displacement of about 1/8 inch. If it’s too close to the pads, the clutch will be too tight to move, and if it’s too far, the clutch will slip. To remove or adjust the clutch cover, start by removing the Phillips locking screw. Then, use a chisel and hammer to tap clockwise until the clutch wheel nut moves 1/2 turn. Next, slip your spark plug removal tool over the clutch arm, pull it in, and push down on the clutch cover. This will free the clutch wheel nut, allowing you to remove or adjust it easily by hand.
